Hi! I’m Rachel Tome, a Kripalu Yoga teacher, mom of 2 teens, wife of Jeff for 20 years. I live in Warren, PA, but grew up in Meadville, PA, which is where I started my love of Yoga. My very first yoga class was a class I attended with my mom as a way to lose weight. That first class felt like coming home to myself. I have used this 5,000-year-old practice of Yoga to get off medication for depression, find ease and relaxation through the pregnancies and births of my 2 children, and peace and balance through parenting those 2 to teenagers.
After graduating from college, I was at a loss as to what I wanted to do with myself. My husband said to me that I should “follow my bliss.” That’s when I knew I wanted to be a yoga teacher. I went to Kripalu Center for my 200 YTT in 2004, and went back for additional training over the past 20 years in prenatal yoga, LifeForce yoga (yoga for depression & anxiety), and yoga teacher conferences. Since 2021, I’ve attended weekly virtual classes with Senior level Kripalu yoga teacher, Jurian Hughes.
My Yoga classes have always been gentle, compassionate, and a way to come home to yourself. You will hear me say “Be Guided by Your Comfort” often in class. I teach with the Kripalu guidelines of Breath, Relax, Feel, Watch, and Allow. Over the past 20 years of teaching, my classes became even more suited to my aging body and those of my students, when I began teaching Chair Yoga classes.
By attending one of my yoga classes, my hope is that you will find mindfulness, peacefulness, and relaxation and a more fluid body and stable mind. Body at ease, mind at ease, time to just be.
